Privacy policy

This policy explains what information is collected when you visit samita.in (the “site”), how it is used, and the choices you have. The site is the personal portfolio of Samita Mondal, based in Bangalore, India (“I”, “me”). It has no accounts, no sign-up and no contact form.

1. Information I collect

  • Analytics data. The site uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors use it. Google Analytics collects information such as the pages you view, how long you stay, the type of device and browser you use, your approximate location (city/country, derived from your IP address) and how you arrived at the site.
  • Information you send me. If you email me at mail@samita.in or call me, I receive your name, email address or phone number and whatever you choose to include in your message.
  • Technical logs. Like most websites, the hosting provider automatically records basic request information (IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time) to keep the site running and secure.

I do not knowingly collect sensitive personal data, and I do not sell, rent or trade your information.

2. Cookies and browser storage

  • Google Analytics cookies (such as _ga and _ga_*) distinguish visitors and sessions. They can last up to two years.
  • Sound preference. If you turn the studio’s sound off, that choice is saved in your browser’s local storage (studio-sound). It never leaves your device.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics on every site with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The site keeps working without cookies.

3. How I use information

  • to understand which parts of the site are useful and improve it;
  • to reply to messages you send me;
  • to keep the site secure and working properly.

4. Who else processes it

Information is shared only with the service providers needed to run the site: Google (analytics) and the website hosting provider. They process it on my behalf under their own privacy and security terms. See Google’s privacy policy and how Google uses information from sites that use its services. These providers may store data outside India.

5. How long it is kept

Analytics data is kept for the retention period set in Google Analytics (up to 14 months) and then deleted. Emails are kept for as long as needed to respond and for my ordinary records, and deleted on request.

6. Your rights

Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 — and, for visitors in the EU or UK, the GDPR — you can ask to access, correct or delete personal data I hold about you, withdraw consent, and raise a grievance. Email mail@samita.in and I will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the relevant data protection authority (in India, the Data Protection Board of India).

7. Security

The site is served over HTTPS and collects as little data as possible. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but I take reasonable steps to protect the information I receive.

8. Children

The site is not directed at children, and I do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has sent me personal data, email me and I will delete it.

9. Links to other sites

The site links to client projects and social profiles. Their privacy practices are their own; please read their policies.

10. Changes to this policy

I may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date above shows when it last changed.
